This year has been full of ups and downs but one of the most exciting things to happen is I received an amazing grant through the Lord Mayor's Women in Business Grant. It has been such a thrill to be a part of this amazing group of women who are inspiring and are doing such wonderful things.
With the grant money, we have been able to engage the services of Relevate to help take our Order Management System to the next level. I built the system when I couldn't find anything on the market to suit my business needs. But I am no coder and I am learning everything as I go. So having Relevate on board has been so great. Their knowledge and work has been such a huge help. To learn from their experience and to see what my system is capable of.
Along with the grant money, the Lord Mayor has offered a series of workshops, seminars, networking events and an upcoming incubator program. To win the money is great for the business but to have the support and opportunities that they have offered and are continuing to offering is above and beyond.
I had the pleasure of meeting Adrian Shrinner at a networking event and he really put on a good show. With his background in his family's small business, it is no wonder he is so passionate about supporting small business. The most exciting part of the event was that he announced that the grant will return next year for another round. So if you didn't apply this year, make sure you keep your eye out for the next round. It has been a fabulous program to be a part of.
